Mission
Our mission is to grow in faith, to share God’s love through our words and actions, to care for one another as we intentionally build beloved community, and to pursue justice for absolutely everyone.
We are a Lighthouse Congregation intentionally welcoming United Methodist whose home churches have disaffiliated. We commit to being a safe and loving space for those discerning what’s next. Whether for just a short time, or for longer, CUMC will be here to welcome, love, and care for all.

Meet Our Pastor
Rev. Angela M. Wells (she/her) came to Christ UMC in January of 2023. She is thrilled to be in ministry with the faithful congregation of CUMC and in collaboration with our interfaith partners at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center and throughout Howard County!
Originally from Baltimore, Rev. Angela attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA where she double majored in Religious Studies and Spanish with a minor in Values, Ethics & Social Action. She then moved to Nashville, TN to complete her Master of Divinity Degree with a certificate in Latin American Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School. She has a special passion for preaching, social justice ministry, and children’s ministry.
She married her wife Kelli in 2020 and together they co-parent two children—Sofia (11) and Nadia (8)—along with the kids’ dad and his wife. Having a family formed through transracial adoption, divorce, and remarriage informs her pastoral care of diverse populations and family formations. In their spare time, Rev. Angela and Kelli love to play strategic board games, have friends over for dinner, and travel.
Before coming to CUMC, Rev. Angela has served in a variety of ministry settings for the last 16 years. As a seminary student, she worked in bilingual ministry in Nashville, TN with the primarily first generation Latinx community, then served as an associate pastor in Mt. Airy, MD, as the lead pastor of Silver Spring UMC, and as the interim children’s ministry director at Trinity UMC in Germantown.
